Old Colorado City is definitely different from Center City in Philadelphia. There are plenty of gorgeous and dated buildings in both places, but shooting is definitely different.
The crowds of Philadelphia gave me a sense of security that isn’t around here. In Center City, there are people everywhere, but always on the move. People aren’t really going to pay attention to you, but you get the sense of ‘safety in numbers’ without actually having to be with someone.
Here, there’s not that many people around. Photographing in public is a lot more nerve-wracking when, instead of sharing a street with dozens headed in different directions, you have a single stranger headed your way.
Shooting without the sense of ‘safety in numbers’ is something I’ll have to get used to…
