Going through the motions is no way to live our lives.
Life and emotions are always in flux, but the pattern of ‘work, eat, sleep’ is a guaranteed way to lower our mood and ensure we feel stuck.
It’s so incredibly important that we live our values, enjoy a passion, and make progress with our goals on a daily basis. Even a few stolen moments and a small step forward can help keep us from feeling stuck and improve our mood.
If we’re feeling trapped and suffocated, let’s not dig ourselves deeper by mindlessly watching tv, surfing the web, drinking alcohol, or the like. Instead, let’s see this as a wake-up call and turn to a passion or a hobby, and ask ourselves what we can do right now to align ourselves closer to our values.
Yes, we have to work, eat, and sleep, but that doesn’t mean we have to just go through the motions.
