Abandoned Train Car

This old, decaying train car has been seen around the house for over a decade, as it was one of my mother’s favorite painting subjects.

This beautiful piece of history is only improving with age, and sits high in the mountains of Colorado outside the mining town of Victor.

Ventures out into the mountain and rural life of farms and mining towns are always interesting.  You never know what you’ll find!

Boarded Up Farmhouse

Everything crumbles in time, but that doesn’t mean it doesn’t still retain beauty.

The outer layer of this old farmhouse has long been falling away, exposing the beautiful stonework beneath.  There’s a calm fascination with admiring what used to be a piece of someones’ lives.  If only the windows weren’t boarded up. I bet it’s just as beautiful on the inside.

Let’s keep our eyes open for remnants of the past.

What kinds of abandoned buildings do you most like to see?  Factories, farms, homes?  Hospitals are definitely a popular subject!

Landscape and architectural photography are growing interests of mine, and there’s definite room for improvement.

I’m hoping to take the camera and tripod out more, as there are dozens of gorgeous buildings and scenes nearby to admire.

Let’s keep working to improve, and remember to enjoy the beauty around us.

Farmhouse Bricks

Barn Bricks

This is an older photograph of some exposed brick on the side of an abandoned farmhouse.  Although falling apart and overrun by plant-life in areas, this house is incredibly beautiful.

It’s a pleasure to see remnants of the past.

Decay

Decay

There is immense beauty in the world, and I have a particular love for the beauty of things that are worn and decaying, like this building at a train station.

There are fantastic textures to be found in what’s old, abandoned, and breaking down.

Everything reaches it’s end, but that doesn’t mean the beauty is gone.

Forest Garden

green moss in forest

I’ve been admiring the green moss growing in this man-made decay.   Not only is moss a beautiful subject, but it’s interesting to see nature living with materials forgotten by people.

This almost looks like a little garden.

Speaking of which, concrete blocks can be up-cycled as garden pots!  You probably don’t want to forget about and trip over them, though.
