Abandoned Train Car

This old, decaying train car has been seen around the house for over a decade, as it was one of my mother’s favorite painting subjects.

This beautiful piece of history is only improving with age, and sits high in the mountains of Colorado outside the mining town of Victor.

Ventures out into the mountain and rural life of farms and mining towns are always interesting.  You never know what you’ll find!

Golden Path | Stand Tall

It’s important to be aware of not only how we treat others, but how we treat ourselves.

Often we’ll notice that we treat and view others as more important, competent, skilled, etc, than ourselves.  This can become immensely obvious when we find ourselves rejecting praise, be it from friends, coworkers, or bosses.

It’s so important that we don’t sell ourselves short.  If we don’t believe in ourselves, others will start to wonder why they should believe in us.

Let’s treat ourselves with kindness, put effort into believing in ourselves, hold our heads high, and walk tall.

Explore | Park Trails

Let’s get out and explore, and find out first hand what parks, trails, and gorgeous views are open to us.  Whether it’s through a park with extensive trails or a footpath along the road, let’s get hiking and see what beautiful views await.

The stone and dirt underfoot as we trail through wild grass or roadside weeds will do us good!

Sunset Ridge

Gorgeous views don’t always require travel to distant locals or making long treks.  Sometimes they’re just off the road.

Let’s get out and enjoy the fresh air, and discover what beautiful views we can find nearby.  We can’t all live in Ireland, but that doesn’t mean we can’t find landscapes to take our breath away~

Winter Field | Deep Blue

Winter walks and hikes were definitely something I was looking forward to during the warmer months of Fall, yet the outdoors has been enjoyed very little this season.  It’s one thing to daydream or even ‘plan to’ do something, but actually getting ourselves geared up and tackling our goals is completely different.

Being prepared might come in handy.  Taking baby steps might proven immensely useful, as well!

Whatever our goals, let’s be sure we’re prepared to tackle them, and especially if we’re a bit sluggish or weary, let’s take baby steps to at least get ourselves started!

Warm Hilltop

Despite temperatures far below freezing, a view like this with vivid blue and warm oranges and greens sure gives you the feeling of those warmer days to come!

There are many photographs like this one that are meant to be seen at a larger size, even if only slightly.  Most of the galleries here on Roman Leaf have just been redone, so you can head over, click on an image, and it’ll pop up in its intended size!

If you have any suggestions on how to make Roman Leaf better, improve photography, or you have some subjects/places you’d like to suggest, I’m all ears!  A whole new year is ahead of us, so let’s get started exploring!
