Red | Hidden

Positively adore how this Red shoot came out.  I’m especially enthused about how working with flash is becoming quite fun!  Less of a technical pain, though there’s still a lot of toe-stubbing and tripping over things.

Practice doesn’t make perfect, but is does help us improve, so let’s keep at it!

Natural light is definitely so wonderful to work with when we can get outside to use it!  Window light is beautiful as well, though it takes a little more tinkering to get a good exposure and sharp image.  Practice, practice!

Whether we’re photographers or not, let’s spend more time outside under the sun.  And feel free to throw on an improvised cape!

Warm Hilltop

Despite temperatures far below freezing, a view like this with vivid blue and warm oranges and greens sure gives you the feeling of those warmer days to come!

There are many photographs like this one that are meant to be seen at a larger size, even if only slightly.  Most of the galleries here on Roman Leaf have just been redone, so you can head over, click on an image, and it’ll pop up in its intended size!

If you have any suggestions on how to make Roman Leaf better, improve photography, or you have some subjects/places you’d like to suggest, I’m all ears!  A whole new year is ahead of us, so let’s get started exploring!

Last Green

Close-up nature photography of Fall's last green leaves.

Green leaves have long since changed color and fallen away.  The vivid greens gave way to oranges, yellows, reds, and purples, and now bare branches as the first day of Winter grows closer!

Our first snow is just around the corner, and I can’t wait to admire and share the snow-blanketed scenery!

Last Light

Lanscape photography of a tree silhouetted on a mountainside.

There’s a particular tree on this ridge that always captures my imagination and that I love to photograph in different weather.  Although one of numerous trees growing on the scar of an old quarry, with the striking silhouette, it always feels like it’s standing alone on the ridge.

Retro Red

Food photograph of cranberries in a glass.

The color and bold contrast in this photograph fills my head with images of retro ads and diners.  Not that I’ve seen them personally, but I have seen movies.

Lots of extra cranberries, still.  What weren’t made into cookies were eaten by the spoon or were chopped and added to water or other drinks.  They looked too beautiful in the glass, and warranted a picture.

Speaking of cranberries, how good is cranberry salad?  Perhaps a vegan variation?

Greens out here in Pennsylvania are incredibly plentiful and vivid, as are yellows and every other color in nature.

We’ll hopefully be returning to the midwest soon, and the color here is definitely something we’ll miss and never forget.

Hopefully we’ll rediscover and appreciate the beauty the different landscape has to offer.  The sunrises, sunsets, and low clouds over the mountains are definitely something worth looking forward to!
