The Trap of Comparison

It can be easy to fall into the trap of comparing ourselves to others.  We see our peers mastering foreign languages, traveling the world, working at corporations, finding great happiness, and it can be too easy to forget our own progress and happiness.  We might feel stuck, as if we haven’t moved forward at all.  Like we’ve been left behind.

This is the trap of comparison.  There is nothing wrong with looking up to others, but it can be harmful to begin comparing ourselves and our lives.

We are all different, and therefore are all leading different lives.  We cannot compare others’ progress to our own, as we are all unique.  We all have different strengths, weaknesses, passions.  There’s nothing to gain by comparing our location on our life path to those walking a completely different journey.

It’s also important not to sell ourselves short.  Let’s remember our own unique skills, dreams, values, and strengths.  Let’s focus on our happiness, where we are now, and where we are going, on our own unique paths.

We are all unique.

Learning and Failure

Red Dogwood Blossoms

Learning continues as long as we live, and it should!  There is so much to learn; so many books to read, articles to ponder, pursuits to dabble in, skills to build.

Learning goes hand in hand with failure.

With so much to learn and so much growth that’s possible, we can’t be afraid to fail.

Let’s roll up our sleeves and learn, experiment, create, and live without fearing the failure that’s part of the process.

Much Peace and Keep Roamin’

Red Dogwood Flower

Warm weather, blooming flowers, and greening trees are all welcome as we head into May.  Reds and pinks are dotting local trees as their flowers bloom, and vibrant yellows are starting to fade as bushes and trees grow green.

Wishing all warm weather, fresh air, and beautiful flowers to admire.

Much Peace and Keep Roamin’
