Lone Tree | Moody Landscape

Photographed this tree atop a ridge at Garden of the Gods nature park at sunrise, and experimented with some different editing techniques!

There are so many ways to go about altering and editing a photo, so let’s take the time to experiment and try new things to see how they work and what effects we can get!

Ridge Sunrise | Garden of the Gods

Photographed while hiking through Garden of the Gods one morning!

The nature park in Colorado Springs is known for the great sandstone rock formations, but that doesn’t mean there’s not plenty of beauty to be found besides!

Let’s remember that beauty is everywhere, and often there are gorgeous sights to be enjoyed if we simply turn around and look in the less popular areas!

Sunset Tower | Before & After Editing

Sometimes editing is a bit more subtle, but how ever long we edit, let’s keep our intention in mind.

How we edit our photography depends on the mood we’re going for, the story we want to tell, and the purpose behind our chosen technique.

Let’s remember to keep our intentions in mind!

Tower | Garden of the Gods

Photographed at the end of a day trip around Pikes Peak last Summer.

It goes to show that sometimes the best part of our adventures is the end, regardless of our destination.

Road trips are relaxing, exciting, inspiring, and sometimes saddening. Even if our adventure only lasts a few hours, let’s make an effort to get out and see new sights, explore well-worn roads, and enjoy some solitude to relax and reflect.

Among the Gods

Sunrise photographed in the magical Garden of the Gods park in Colorado.

The beauty and magic of Nature always manages to surprise and inspire!  Sunrises are particularly beautiful, though a bit harder to catch if you’re a night owl.

They are often worth it, though, and mornings offer a chance to catch magical mist hanging around the landscape before it’s burned off by the Sun.

Whether we’re night owls or not, let’s try to get up to enjoy the sunrise every once in a while, and let Nature get us recharged and ready for a new day of creation!

Tiny Blue

These small blue flowers have been happily growing in the shade of a garden of sunflowers, and it’s been so wonderful to have such vivid colors around the house!

Close-up nature photography has fallen out of favor since moving, and it’s caused some home-sickness for the vividness and quietness of our old place in Pennsylvania.  It was also a lot less windy, which is definitely beneficial for such close-ups!

Despite the wind and liveliness of Colorado, I’m hoping to get out and spend more time on the beauty that is nature up close!

What loves of yours have fallen by the wayside?  Whatever it is, let’s take baby steps to get back on track, and let’s start today.

Queen’s Canyon

A view of the beautiful Queens Canyon and Glen Eyrie area from a trail in Garden of the Gods.  Definitely hoping to spot some bighorn sheep this Spring!

Still working on improving my landscape photography while enjoying more jaunts out in nature.  For some reason, the concept of including a foreground, mid ground, and background hadn’t occurred to me…  Neither had taking shots from a position closer to the ground..

Let’s keep learning and trying new things.  You never know when something simple will help you improve!
