Sunset Trails

Sunset photography featuring trails

I count myself as truly lucky to be able to enjoy the beauty of the sky, especially during sunset.

Living in Pennsylvania for several years, where trees crowded out the sky from our home, made the expansive sky terribly missed.  Even though it was only a short walk or drive away.

Being able to look up and enjoy the sky, and whatever clouds and colors are painting it, brings an immense sense of happiness and gratitude.  It can be easy to forget that there are places where thick clouds or pollution much too often loom in the sky, making its beauty hard to see.

Should you live in one of these places, or are simply experiencing a gloomy and cloud-shrouded day, I hope you enjoy the beauty of the sky shared here.  Best wishes and hope for many sunsets in the future.

Gratitude for the Little Things

The Little Things

Things don’t have to be perfect for us to be grateful.

And gratitude shouldn’t only be expressed for the big things in life, but the little things as well.

Food to prepare, a book to read, clothes to wash, or simply a few moments of silence to enjoy are just as worthy of gratitude as a higher salary or better position at work.  Big things happen every so often, but it’s the little things that fill our lives.

The every-day might be familiar, but that doesn’t mean we shouldn’t express gratitude for it.  Things can change in a moment, and we can find ourselves missing what we used to take for granted.

Let’s remember all we have, and continue to be grateful for the little things.

Happiness

Fall Forest

Happiness can be so difficult to find, and so easy at the same time.  We can get so frustrated searching for it, without realizing we already have it.

For myself, no matter how many times I forget, happiness isn’t shopping, it isn’t fitting in, and it isn’t shutting people out, either.  For me, happiness is feeling grateful for all I have, gazing at the sky, sitting on the floor with an interesting book, creating, and sharing life with others.

When things start to feel dull and race by, and it feels like happiness has once again vanished, let’s slow down.  Let’s breathe, be present, and experience all we have to be grateful for while we have it.

Remember the Positive

Remember the Positive

It can be easy to let ourselves be consumed by negative thoughts when we’re angry or frustrated, be it with work or our family.  Let’s remember the positive.

When we find ourselves spiraling in negativity, let’s reflect on the positive aspects we’re grateful for.  Maybe we don’t work at our ideal job, but we have wonderful coworkers and are good at what we do.  Maybe we find ourselves frustrated with a family member’s point of view, but they’re kind-hearted and we have fun together.

Let’s think positive, and remember all the things we’re grateful for.

End Every Day With Gratitude

Gratitude

Sometimes life feels dull.  The days blur together, and it feels like all we do is sleep, eat, and work.

It’s easy to feel dragged down by depression, anxiety, guilt, and dread for tomorrow.  But it’s also easy to lift ourselves up with gratitude.  Life isn’t perfect, but that doesn’t mean there isn’t plenty to be grateful for.

Let’s end every day with gratitude and a peaceful smile.

Remember Our Reasons to be Grateful

Look for Luck

Health issues can take a lot out of us.  It’s important to recognize and remember our reasons to be grateful, especially when illness leaves us feeling less then our best.

Even amid health issues, there is plenty to be grateful for and beauty to be appreciated.  There is always beauty to be found if we look past the weeds.

Let’s remember all the things we have to be grateful for, and spend time appreciating the beauty in life.

String of Hearts

String of Hearts bleeding hearts flower photography

With my renewed interest in photography this year, I’ve definitely been paying more attention to my surroundings and the beauty that I hadn’t taken the time to notice or appreciate.

These beautiful bleeding hearts are a wander to look at.  The vivid red of the blooms against the green leaves is gorgeous and the odd shapes are curious.

It’s remarkable the things we miss in the everyday, ignoring the beauty around us just because it’s ‘ordinary‘.  We think beauty must to searched for and can only be found through travel, though there’s plenty of beauty to admire already, if we only opened our eyes.
