The Great North | Cotton Apparel with a Cause

In addition to some recent lifestyle and fitness goals that have left this photographer and sorta model feeling better than in a long time, I found myself able to work with The Great North!

Not only do they donate 10% of proceeds to environmental causes, but their apparel is also made with cotton, a true blessing in the gym!

This tank top is 90% cotton, which is pretty great, not just for aesthetics but for the environment, and my gym partners!

Check out more from The Great North and use ROMAA30 at checkout to get a whopping 30% off your purchase!

Let’s not forget to choose more environmentally conscious companies while we chase our goals…!

Lady Death | Portrait

A moody and sensual portrait of Lady Death.

Death, in all it’s forms in our lifetime, is a process and catalyst for change.

Whether through physical death or simply a parting of ways, people will constantly move in and out of our lives.  We’ll grow closer and move further from those we love, and there are those that simply show up and disappear in our lives.

All serve a purpose.

Some teach us to love.  Some to practice patience.  Some teach us what we won’t tolerate in our lives and show us how we never want to act.  Some simply come and go without teaching us much at all.

Death is a constant in our lives.

Let us not grasp too tightly to those we love, and freely release those we do not want in our lives.

We all have our tribe.  Those who do us harm or do not value us have no place in ours.  May they find their own people, but just as well, let’s find our own by boldly showing our truest selves to the world.

Misty Autumn Forest | Resistance

Resistance can have a big impact on our lives.

It keeps us in a rut, automatically following the same well-worn paths we’ve been walking for so long.

When ever we want to change for the better (which is hopefully often!), resistance is there to meet us.

Do we let it stop us?

Hopefully…no.

Realistically…it’s at least going to put up a fight.  And that’s our cue to acknowledge our resistance to change, and push forward anyway.

The first hurdles are always the hardest.  We need to jump over them anyway.  We’ll slip, we’ll fall back into our old routine, but each time we need to get back up and move forward.

Habits take time to dismantle and recreate, but it can be done!

How do you want to change yourself for the better?  What goals are you working on, and what new habits are you trying to instill?  How do you overcome resistance?

Let’s keep our goals and values in mind, and keep moving forward!

Along This Dark Path | We Choose Our Direction

Circumstance isn’t everything.

We all have dreams of what we want our lives to be like, and we all have a certain path we’ve been walking.

We can’t always choose where we start our journey from, but we decide which direction to walk.  If our current lives aren’t reflecting what we value and what we dream of, let’s ask ourselves:

In which direction have we been walking?

Have we been pushing closer to our ideals, or wandering in the opposite direction?

Our ideal lives aren’t going to magically fall into place, we’ll have to put in the legwork and start making choices.  Some choices may hard, and the journey with be difficult, but isn’t living closer to our dreams worth it?

Let’s continually check in with ourselves, our dreams, and ask if we’ve been heading in the direction we want.

Bloom | Take The Leap

“Leap and the net will appear.” -John Burroughs

We may desperately want change, but still cling to what we’ve known because it’s safe and predictable.

We tell ourselves want a new job, but then convince ourselves we can’t change careers now.  The bills will never get paid, the job market is too bad, and that we should just stick it out.

Things in life are always changing, but to make the changes we crave and need, we have to be willing to let go and take the leap.

Things will work out one way or another.  Be smart, and be prepared, but let’s not be too afraid to take the leap.

Let’s be courageous.  Our net will appear.

Start Now | Into the Storm

Life it too short to wait for things to be ‘perfect’ before starting something.

Let’s not wait for a steady job that’ll give us vacation time to take a vacation.  Let’s use that one day off this week to go somewhere, whether just in town or some hours’ drive away.

Let’s not wait to have the highest quality supplies to start creating, but start working with what we have now.

Let’s not wait for certain circumstances to start living the life we want.  The life we dream of isn’t going to just happen, it’s something we have to work toward little by little, day by day.

So let’s stop waiting for the life we want, and start building it right now.

What do you want to do?  What do you dream of?  What small step can you make today to start living it?

Whatever it is, let’s start moving forward and making it happen!
