There’s still so much in the studio to photograph!  Lots of lace, books, horns and more.  But still in need of armor and more swords!

What would you like to see?

It’s been a while, and it’s good to be back in the studio!

When life happens, we need to still make time for the things that are important to us, even when we don’t necessarily have the energy.

Especially when we’re killing ourselves at our 9-5 which has recently turned into a 9-9, sometimes we need to turn down the overtime and instead curl up with a good book, and make time to play with our camera.

How do you ensure to set time aside?  How do you get the ball rolling?

Boudoir | Her Studies

This shoot definitely presented new opportunities, as I wanted to try and set build a little more than usual, as well as shoot lying down for once!

Definitely my favorite shoot in a while!

What’s been your favorite photo setup recently?

Thrills of Darkness | Boudoir Portrait

Second in set with Black Swan.

There’s a thrill that comes with darkness.  A sense of purpose as we slowly learn to master ourselves and our demons.

Everyone’s darkness is unique.  Our personal demons set us apart from each other, but they bring us together as human.

There is no light without darkness, nor darkness without light.

Let’s see the beauty in the darkness, and claim it as our own.

We’d do well to learn to love and see the beauty in ourselves.

This is of course, easier said than done.  A good place to start is by expressing and being ourselves, and being less critical of ourselves and our efforts.

A good rule of thumb: treat yourself with the love and compassion you’d treat a dear friend.  Build yourself up, be compassionate, be patient.

Self-portraits can be another way to learn to love ourselves.  As artists, it can of course involve some self-criticism, but it also gives us a chance to really see ourselves, and appreciate our own version of beauty.

So whether we’re taking a more loving and compassionate approach to ourselves, stepping in front of the camera, or both, let’s be kind.  Let’s really try to see ourselves and appreciate the unique beauty we bring to the world.
