Boudoir | Her Studies

This shoot definitely presented new opportunities, as I wanted to try and set build a little more than usual, as well as shoot lying down for once!

Definitely my favorite shoot in a while!

What’s been your favorite photo setup recently?

Lionheart | Burn With Love

It’s easier said than done, but is still a wonderful practice.  And this practice is to let yourself burn up with love.

Moments can be brief, longer if we’re lucky, but let’s let ourselves burn with love for ourselves and others.  Let’s feel joy in the moment and wish well to ourselves and others, and feel gratitude for what we do have.

Again, easier said than done.  But there’s no denying that there’s a special magic that happens when let ourselves glow with love and gratitude.

How do you work to maintain your inner peace?

And so another solstice has passed!

It’s officially Summer, and soon the days with grow shorter and colder, especially here in the mountains.

Let’s keep moving forward as time and our lives change with the seasons.  Let’s not let our days all be the same, and find ourselves marching in the doldrums day in and day out.

How do you plan to keep moving forward?

Golden Waves | Moody Sunset

This gorgeous, moody sunset was photographed in Garden of the Gods one chilly sunset!

The clouds were rolling over Pikes Peak, which is always a gorgeous and camera-worthy view!

A good reminder to take our telephoto lenses with us, as when we zoom in, it can look like a completely different view.

Ever feel like you’ve shot the same location hundreds of times?  Bring a longer lens and get a new view!

What’s your favorite view to shoot?

Nymph | Dark Fantasy Portrait

Even Nymphs can become fiery and demand their offerings.  Darkness is the best place to find the light, but we must be willing to pay for it.

Let’s keep our chins up, stoke the fires in our hearts, and give thanks for inspiration when it strikes!

Photoshoots always go better with a little planning, but it’s often the ‘let’s try this’ shots that end up being favorites!

Let’s take the time to put some forethought into our portraits, but still keep flexibility and creativity.  The additional work ahead of time can save us some headaches in the future, and keep a portrait session from going on far too long.

Here’s to the messy, spur of the moment portraits, and to the shots we never expected.

When do you find you get the best photographs?  During the planned moments or the spontaneous ones?
