Calm Solitude

Solitude is one of the best ways to get ready for or recover from the day.  It gives us time to think, relax, and recharge.

It can come in the form of reading a book, meditating, enjoying music, hiking, or engaging in a hobby.  The list goes on.

I highly recommend enjoying solitude often, whether from an hour to several.  Let’s take time to quiet our minds, reflect, and be mindful of the present moment.

Leo Babauta of Zen Habits has a good article on solitude that I recommend reading!

Enjoy the Calm

Dead Winter Vines

Let’s enjoy the calm moments when we can, and try adding more silence, solitude, and mindfulness to our days.

A deep breath and reconnection to the present can do wonders.

Going Through the Motions

Purple Buds in Fall

Sometimes it feels like the days are flashing by, and we’re stuck in the same pattern that leaves us exhausted and unsatisfied.

There is a time for work, chores, and errands, but there is also time for play, relaxing, creating, and engaging in the things that bring us joy.

Let’s slow down, and remember that the world is still turning, and we’re still alive.  Let’s enjoy the fresh air on our way to work, the taste of our lunch during break, and the people we spend the day with.  When the days blur together, let’s focus on what makes each day special.

Let’s also take our time to wind down.  Enjoy some silence, watch the clouds, read a book, sip some tea, sit in the sun.  Let’s do whatever it is that lifts our hearts and reminds us that we’re alive, and that every day is special.

String of Hearts

String of Hearts bleeding hearts flower photography

With my renewed interest in photography this year, I’ve definitely been paying more attention to my surroundings and the beauty that I hadn’t taken the time to notice or appreciate.

These beautiful bleeding hearts are a wander to look at.  The vivid red of the blooms against the green leaves is gorgeous and the odd shapes are curious.

It’s remarkable the things we miss in the everyday, ignoring the beauty around us just because it’s ‘ordinary‘.  We think beauty must to searched for and can only be found through travel, though there’s plenty of beauty to admire already, if we only opened our eyes.

Be Grateful for Every Moment

be grateful for every moment

A flower doesn’t stay in bloom forever.

Let’s be grateful for every moment we have, and everything we experience and enjoy in the present.  We never know what will be in the future, but we can open our eyes and hearts to understand what is right now.

Let’s be in the moment, hold gratitude in our hearts, and enjoy the beauty in the world.

Much Peace and Keep Roamin’
