Iron Heart

The ironwork heart in this red framed window grate is terribly charming, but I’m a sucker for reds, creams, and textured walls!

This lovely building sits beside a tattoo shop and gallery, and across from the historic church in Old Colorado City.  Old Colorado City is full of really awesome buildings, basically!

Beautiful and charming details abound, so let’s open our eyes to the world around us!

Manitou Blue

Urban photography of a cozy home in Manitou Springs

Manitou Springs in Colorado is bursting at the seams with gorgeous homes and businesses alike.  Another historic town, it’s lined with cozy-looking old homes.

This particular building, possibly several homes, sports a beautifully chipped layer of light blue paint.  The sheer and tablecloth curtains are pulled back just enough to show off some thriving plants and some comfortable seating.

Saturation was played with in editing, so this equally lovely window sports the same light blue as the rest of the home, though tiled and featuring a spattering of rust.

Whether we’re part of a throng of tourists, or exploring on our own during the colder months, let’s get out as much as possible and take in the gorgeous sights.

Although locked closed, this striking green door is just begging to be opened so the old pond house can be explored.

Aged buildings are gorgeous to admire.  Let’s keep our heads up for opportunities to explore the architecture around us.  With the property owner’s permission if entering private property, of course!

Texture is such a pleasure to admire and photograph, especially when such texture is created by chipped paint and weathered wood.

Let’s keep our eyes open for the beauty around us, and remember that beauty only improves with age.

Decay

Decay

There is immense beauty in the world, and I have a particular love for the beauty of things that are worn and decaying, like this building at a train station.

There are fantastic textures to be found in what’s old, abandoned, and breaking down.

Everything reaches it’s end, but that doesn’t mean the beauty is gone.

Don’t Cross the Yellow Line

Don't Cross the Yellow Line

This year I’ve discovered how wonderful it is to have access to public transit, trains in particular.  Every time I step on the train and watch towns fly by, I feel an immense sense of gratitude and freedom.

It’s a beautiful thing to be able to get around and explore the world.

Walking is great, and this year I plan on trading in the car for a bike as my mode of transportation, but I’ll always have a soft spot for trains.

What’s your favorite way to get around and see the world?
