Magical Mountain Sunset | Peace Through Detachment

This mountain belongs to the Collegiate Peaks and was photographed near sunset during a spontaneous road trip.

While working to meet our goals and live the best life we can, we come across new people, places, and things.  We can find insecurities stirring up as well.

We fear things will change.

We fear losing the people we love, having to leave the places where we’re comfortable, and losing the things we’ve finally acquired.

Detachment is needed.

It is difficult, especially once fear has already set in.  But when we lovingly separate ourselves from what we’re so afraid to lose, when we let it go and trust things will be the way they’re meant to be, it gets easier.

We feel lighter.  We feel free.

Like most things, it gets easier with practice.  Let’s breathe, keep our eyes on our dreams, but lovingly let go and trust that we will be alright whatever comes.

Let’s keep chasing the sunset, without getting too caught up in the timing.  Let’s keep climbing mountains, without insisting we make it to the top.  Let’s keep moving forward, without clinging to the ‘perfect’ destination.

Remember the Positive

Calm

Tensions start to run high, patience begins to stretch thin, and life keeps going at the same rate.  Technically true, but it doesn’t always feel that way.

Letting ourselves be consumed by anger and running negative monologues through our heads doesn’t make us feel any better, and it certainly doesn’t help pass the time.

When we feel pressure building, anger mounting, and blood boiling, let’s remember the positive.

Let’s lose ourselves in what brings us peace, remember the positive, and hope for the future.

Bliss of Solitude

Solitude is a wonderful thing.  It gives us time to relax and be content, and it brings us back to the present.

To me, solitude is watering my plants, preparing a healthy meal, walking outside, reading a good book or three, learning, and creating.  It’s refreshing, rewarding, calming, peaceful, and always feels like time well spent.

Solitude isn’t watching TV for hours or aimlessly wandering the internet.  These things don’t ever make me feel better.  They bring about fatigue, anxiety, guilt, and a sense of time wasted.  Let’s limit our time spent before the screens.  When we’re bored, instead of browsing channels and shows, let’s read a book, learn a new skill, or watch the clouds.

Habits are hard to change, but the benefits of solitude are much worth the effort.

Let’s enjoy more solitude.  Let’s walk, read, meditate, garden, practice yoga, paint, whatever it is that brings us peace and a sense of time well spent.

Much Peace and Keep Roamin’

Peaceful Glow

peaceful glow candle photography spirit calm meditation think

I’ve always found candlelight to be very calming and beautiful.

Despite that, I’ve recently donated all my candles, incense, etc. in what the thrift shop probably thought was a ‘Wiccan starter kit’.

The candle in this photo is resting on my favorite top and scarf that I was lucky to get second-hand.

Candles are wonderful for meditation and lifting your spirit, but they’re not necessary.  Golden sunlight touching the earth and clouds in the sky are wonderful, too.
