Magical Mountain Sunset | Peace Through Detachment

This mountain belongs to the Collegiate Peaks and was photographed near sunset during a spontaneous road trip.

While working to meet our goals and live the best life we can, we come across new people, places, and things.  We can find insecurities stirring up as well.

We fear things will change.

We fear losing the people we love, having to leave the places where we’re comfortable, and losing the things we’ve finally acquired.

Detachment is needed.

It is difficult, especially once fear has already set in.  But when we lovingly separate ourselves from what we’re so afraid to lose, when we let it go and trust things will be the way they’re meant to be, it gets easier.

We feel lighter.  We feel free.

Like most things, it gets easier with practice.  Let’s breathe, keep our eyes on our dreams, but lovingly let go and trust that we will be alright whatever comes.

Let’s keep chasing the sunset, without getting too caught up in the timing.  Let’s keep climbing mountains, without insisting we make it to the top.  Let’s keep moving forward, without clinging to the ‘perfect’ destination.

Heavenly Light | First Snow

The first snow atop Pikes Peak from what feels like forever ago, probably around late Summer!

When you’ve got thin clouds overhead and snow on the ground, you’ve got a good chance to enjoy that ‘heavenly glow’!

As the temps fall, let’s remember to dress warm, keep camera batteries close to body-heat, and most of all stay safe!

Plenty of warm tea, hot soup, and layers!

Work to Live | Creek Waterfall

“Sometimes I think I’m in the wrong line of work.

Then someone reminds me that life isn’t about being happy, it’s about paying the bills.”

This is of course, just a joke.

Life isn’t about paying the bills.  Life is about making time for what you love, while doing what you need to keep yourself well cared for and fed.

Even successful artists may need to supplement their income, so don’t feel that your day job is a life sentence.  Although we may need to work full-time, it’s important to remember that there are options.

Let’s try to find a day job that feeds our interests and adds to our family.  If work leaves you feeling drained on a regular basis, try to find something else.

Even when we feel like we don’t have options, let’s remember that we don’t have to give our two-week’s notice just to look.

We never know what we’ll find.

Fallow Your Path

Patch of Light | Devil’s Playground Trail

Walking along this forested trail on Pikes Peak definitely brought back memories of the forests in Pennsylvania.

This gorgeous patch of light was captured just off the Devil’s Playground trail, a hiking path up the western side of the mountain.

This trail definitely warrants a return visit, perhaps with the goal of getting to the summit, or at least the tree-line!

Let’s keep exploring.

Start Now | Into the Storm

Life it too short to wait for things to be ‘perfect’ before starting something.

Let’s not wait for a steady job that’ll give us vacation time to take a vacation.  Let’s use that one day off this week to go somewhere, whether just in town or some hours’ drive away.

Let’s not wait to have the highest quality supplies to start creating, but start working with what we have now.

Let’s not wait for certain circumstances to start living the life we want.  The life we dream of isn’t going to just happen, it’s something we have to work toward little by little, day by day.

So let’s stop waiting for the life we want, and start building it right now.

What do you want to do?  What do you dream of?  What small step can you make today to start living it?

Whatever it is, let’s start moving forward and making it happen!

Pikes Peak | Road Trip

Today was the first real road trip in what feels like forever, and it was just what was needed!

Fresh mountain air, bright sunlight, and tons of gorgeous new views to take in was a wonderful treat!

It was great to see Pikes Peak from a different perspective, and I can’t wait to get back up in the mountains to take advantage of dusk light and extra time to get out of the car!  Perhaps this Fall?

Let’s enjoy our everyday views, but remember to get out and travel once in a while, if only for a few hours.

Kindness is never wasted, even if shown to those who may not notice or return it.

Let’s always be kind to others, but let’s also remember to be kind to ourselves.  Let’s give ourselves love and acceptance, so that we can better love and accept those we meet in life.

Much Love,

Roman.
