Bicycle, Bicycle

This much-loved bicycle top is now available in the shop!

While waiting for a cold to pass, why not play with the flashguns in the studio?

It’s easier to get a clean white background when you can evenly light it and get the subject far enough away from it to lose that pesky texture, unless you want to include it!

Shooting with a wider aperture is also another strategy, though if you’re like me, 5.8/f is the closest you can get to!

A new lens is currently on the way, an 85mm, f/1.8 prime to be exact, so we’ll see how that works out in the studio!

Happy Winter Solstice!

Today marks the shortest day of the year, and so the days will start getting longer.

Only a matter of time before Spring returns~!

In the meantime, cold weather means more time spent inside making props and decor, like this glass bottle filled with tiny flowers available in the Metaphysical Blend Shop!

There are tons of bottles, flowers, and leaves hanging around the studio, just waiting to be photographed!

Let’s make the time in the coming days to play and make progress on our projects!

Orange Glass Pendant

Available in the Metaphysical Blend Shop, this necklace features an orange marble wrapped in wire and snuggled under an ornate bead cap.

Definitely love the orange glow, and there are plenty of other glass pieces around the studio just waiting to be made into jewelry!

Although style varies when crafting, handmade necklaces and accessories with a fantasy flair have major personal appeal, as they can be used as future props for portrait photography.

Let’s keep our eyes open for findings that spark our imaginations, and keep putting our inspirations to use!

Cozy Side Street

Urban photography of a cozy side street.

Manitou Springs in Colorado is such a favorite of mine to explore.  The busiest area has streets lined with beautiful shops and eateries, as well as gorgeous old homes.

This cozy side street in particular caught my eye for the lovely colors, textures, and details throughout.  Street photography isn’t something I have much experience with, but it wasn’t as nerve-wracking as expected.

Definitely a town worth visiting and exploring on foot if you’re ever in Colorado.

Chocolate Shop

Streep photograph of a chocolate shop

This lovely chocolate shop in Pennsylvania captured my eye and imagination for years.  Not only due to a big love for sugar and all things sweet, but because the very beautiful setup was reminiscent of the sweet shops in Harry Potter.  To me, at least.

No matter how many times it was passed over the years, I never had the courage to go in, buy some dessert, and ask to take some photos around the shop.

Those of us that are terribly shy and awkward are many, though hopefully we continue to push ourselves out of our shells when we really want to.

Let’s not let our shyness hold us back from what we really want, be it a big chocolate cookie, or permission to go nuts with our camera in an inspiring location.
