Fantasy Skyscape | New Posting Schedule

Hello and welcome back to Roman Leaf!

Over the break, I had plenty of time to think about the future of the blog, and for now, posting will consist more of projects and new work as it’s created, instead of scheduled posting.

I hope to focus more on quality, not quantity, and work on narrowing down my brand and focus.

Although there will still be plenty of room for experimentation, the hope is to share more work that I’m in love with, and that supports the work I want to pursue.

Tips, Tricks, and Tutorials Tuesday will be scaled back to twice a month, so please give suggestions!

Thanks so much for your support, and can’t wait to see what’s next!

Calm Night Sky

Finally took the 11-16mm f/2.8 lens out for practice beneath a beautiful, starry night sky!

This was photographed with a 20 sec exposure at 200 ISO, and although still a little dark, I was pleasantly surprised by now many stars were captured, especially given that this was taken surrounded by city lights!

Definitely excited to photograph the stars up in the mountains and away from the light pollution!

Do you have any experience with astrophotography?  What’s your favorite part?  The star-gazing?  Time alone in the wilderness?

Let’s keep getting out and trying new things!

Orange Glow | Super Moon

This was taken within a few days of this year’s Super Moon, this time with some gorgeous clouds in play and a little foreground in the form of a slight silhouette.

Clouds can be a photographer’s best friend!  They add interest, diffuse light, and bring a little something extra~

Let’s remember to not get discouraged by less-than-awesome shots, and to not be afraid to reshoot!

Let’s find our lesson, and move forward with a little more knowledge and experience.

Dark Skies

One of the many views from the historic Rock Ledge Ranch in Colorado.

This place was absolutely fantastic when I visited during the off-season earlier this year, even though there weren’t any reenactors present.

It’s a working ranch, so there were plenty of horses and chickens about, and I’m looking forward to getting back there sometime soon!

Let’s keep our eyes open for the beautiful places around us.

Golden Path | Stand Tall

It’s important to be aware of not only how we treat others, but how we treat ourselves.

Often we’ll notice that we treat and view others as more important, competent, skilled, etc, than ourselves.  This can become immensely obvious when we find ourselves rejecting praise, be it from friends, coworkers, or bosses.

It’s so important that we don’t sell ourselves short.  If we don’t believe in ourselves, others will start to wonder why they should believe in us.

Let’s treat ourselves with kindness, put effort into believing in ourselves, hold our heads high, and walk tall.

Home Across the Valley

Cozy-looking homes, whether a house on a farm, a downtown apartment, or a brick hideout in the mountains, always inspire hope for having a home of my own one day.

And this home overlooking a valley and an exceptionally gorgeous rock formation is no exception!

Heading down the highway through the mountains of Colorado, you’re guaranteed to see not only some gorgeous scenery, but some comfy-looking homes!

Let’s keep our eyes open for what inspires us, both visually and in regards to our life goals.
