Eve | Fine Art Portrait

It’s been a while, and it’s good to be back in the studio!

When life happens, we need to still make time for the things that are important to us, even when we don’t necessarily have the energy.

Especially when we’re killing ourselves at our 9-5 which has recently turned into a 9-9, sometimes we need to turn down the overtime and instead curl up with a good book, and make time to play with our camera.

How do you ensure to set time aside?  How do you get the ball rolling?

Lone Tree | Moody Landscape

Photographed this tree atop a ridge at Garden of the Gods nature park at sunrise, and experimented with some different editing techniques!

There are so many ways to go about altering and editing a photo, so let’s take the time to experiment and try new things to see how they work and what effects we can get!

Fallen Tree

A fallen tree in the brush at Ute Valley Park.

Although this was photographed some time ago and doesn’t quite fit with recent work, it’s still a favorite.

Branding and consistency in our portfolio is important, but that doesn’t mean we can’t show and enjoy art that falls out of our ‘theme’.

That’s what this blog is for!

Let’s keep our eyes open and enjoy the beauty around us, and not worry too much about how things will ‘fit in’.

Fallen Tree | Self Care

A dark, green forest photographed in the Colorado mountains while hiking The Crags.

It’s always when we push ourselves too far that we realize how we’re not treating ourselves as well as we should.

Hindsight is truly 20/20.

Let’s be more in tune with ourselves and how we’re living, and pay more attention to the subtle clues that we need to take better care of our health.

To health and self-care, which we need to truly enjoy our explorations and adventures in life~

Mountain Ranch

This lone tree sits in the grassy field of a ranch nestled against the Colorado mountains.
Ranches aren’t hard to find around here, so it’s a great escape from the city, even just to hike by and enjoy the sights, sounds, and smells of farm life.

Let’s get out and enjoy different areas of interest, even those close to home.

Along This Dark Path | We Choose Our Direction

Circumstance isn’t everything.

We all have dreams of what we want our lives to be like, and we all have a certain path we’ve been walking.

We can’t always choose where we start our journey from, but we decide which direction to walk.  If our current lives aren’t reflecting what we value and what we dream of, let’s ask ourselves:

In which direction have we been walking?

Have we been pushing closer to our ideals, or wandering in the opposite direction?

Our ideal lives aren’t going to magically fall into place, we’ll have to put in the legwork and start making choices.  Some choices may hard, and the journey with be difficult, but isn’t living closer to our dreams worth it?

Let’s continually check in with ourselves, our dreams, and ask if we’ve been heading in the direction we want.

Orange Glow | Super Moon

This was taken within a few days of this year’s Super Moon, this time with some gorgeous clouds in play and a little foreground in the form of a slight silhouette.

Clouds can be a photographer’s best friend!  They add interest, diffuse light, and bring a little something extra~

Let’s remember to not get discouraged by less-than-awesome shots, and to not be afraid to reshoot!

Let’s find our lesson, and move forward with a little more knowledge and experience.
