Light Through | Manitou Cliff Dwellings

Today we found ourselves over at the Manitou Cliff Dwellings, which features a recreation of Anasazi architecture built into the cliff, a museum, and a pretty sweet gift shop.

Definitely recommend visiting places like this closer to the off-season for some extra personal space and quiet, but visiting museums, historical sites and recreations are always worth it.

Iron Heart

The ironwork heart in this red framed window grate is terribly charming, but I’m a sucker for reds, creams, and textured walls!

This lovely building sits beside a tattoo shop and gallery, and across from the historic church in Old Colorado City.  Old Colorado City is full of really awesome buildings, basically!

Beautiful and charming details abound, so let’s open our eyes to the world around us!

Manitou Blue

Urban photography of a cozy home in Manitou Springs

Manitou Springs in Colorado is bursting at the seams with gorgeous homes and businesses alike.  Another historic town, it’s lined with cozy-looking old homes.

This particular building, possibly several homes, sports a beautifully chipped layer of light blue paint.  The sheer and tablecloth curtains are pulled back just enough to show off some thriving plants and some comfortable seating.

Saturation was played with in editing, so this equally lovely window sports the same light blue as the rest of the home, though tiled and featuring a spattering of rust.

Whether we’re part of a throng of tourists, or exploring on our own during the colder months, let’s get out as much as possible and take in the gorgeous sights.

Boarded Up Farmhouse

Boarded Up Farmhouse

Everything crumbles in time, but that doesn’t mean it doesn’t still retain beauty.

The outer layer of this old farmhouse has long been falling away, exposing the beautiful stonework beneath.  There’s a calm fascination with admiring what used to be a piece of someones’ lives.  If only the windows weren’t boarded up. I bet it’s just as beautiful on the inside.

Let’s keep our eyes open for remnants of the past.

What kinds of abandoned buildings do you most like to see?  Factories, farms, homes?  Hospitals are definitely a popular subject!

This beautiful scene was hiding around a shop’s corner.  It was on a quick trip I took with someone at the last minute.

I hope to appreciate and capture a lot of beauty this coming year; I hope you’ll enjoy.

Winter Blue

winter blue exterior photography There’s a special feeling of calm and wonder to feel when you open your eyes to the beautiful colors and textures of the world.

The blue paint and cracked wood felt quite wintry.
